ACCESS POINTS:
Ouabache Trails Park

Lower Fort Knox Road
2 miles north of Vincennes, Indiana

Managed by the Knox County Parks Dept., this access site offers hand carry access (about a 200 yard carry). Really, it is poor access, and much better access can be found at Kimmel Park.

The park also offers a playground, restrooms, covered picnic shelter, campground, and more. The park closes at dusk, and a sign on the trail to the river warns that the gates get locked at 10pm, so be out by then.

From the river, this site might be hard to see. It is on the left bank, and a picnic table and/or small river trail sign might be visible. It is just upstream of a small creek entering the river on the left bank.

Important: The river is constantly changing. Hazards like log jams and tree falls will come and go often, so always be ready for them. Even islands and riverbends come and go over time. Riffles and sandbars will appear and disappear based on water flow levels. Do not attempt boating on this or any river during high water. Please be safe, respectful and responsible on the river.
